Tennis World Reacts To Iga Swiatek Withdrawing From Bad Homburg With Illness

On Friday, Iga Swiatek decides to withdraw from Bad Homburg Open. Iga Swiatek made this decision because of a “fever and possible food poisoning.” Both Iga Swiatek and the tournament confirm this news.

In her statement, Iga Swiatek said: “I’m so sorry but I have to pull out of my match today. I had a restless night because of some fever and possible food poisoning. I’m not able to perform today and I need to take care of myself. I hope I’ll be fine soon. Your support in Bad Homburg was amazing, thank you.”

Iga Swiatek played well in Bad Homburg Open. She reaches her first grass-court semifinal after defeating Tatjana Maria and No.9 seed Anna Blinkova. Iga Swiatek win French Open earlier this month. And currently, she has a 10-match winning streak.

Iga Swiatek was scheduled to play No.65-ranked Bronzetti in the semifinal of the Bad Homburg Open. But after her withdrawal, Bronzetti reaches the final of the Homburg Open. It is Bronzetti’s second final in 2023, and first of her career on grass.

Now the Wimbledon draw also comes out. And in her first-round match in Wimbledon, Iga Swiatek will play against Zhu Lin.
